Recently, associate professor Gao Xiang from ERI won the Lead Reviewer Award for Commitment for 2017 as the lead reviewer of United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). This award was set by the secretariat of UNFCCC, aiming to exalt lead reviewers who did great contributions in the 2014-2016 review cycle of Second Biennial Reports of Annex I Parties. The main duties for all member states are to submit national report under UNFCCC. Over 100 expert Lead Reviewers of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) inventories, biennial reports and national communications meet every year to evaluate the previous climate reporting cycle, increasing the transparency of implementation of climate action. As the lead reviewer, associate professor Gao Xiang was in charged for reviewing the reports from European Union, Finland, Slovakia and Latvia.
