On the 20th, April,Inaugural China-Alberta Energy and Climate Change Round Tablewas successfully held in Alvin Hamilton Hall, Canadian Embassy. Numerous honorable guests attended thisRound Table, including Mr. Changlin Wang, the Vice President of Academy of Macroeconomic Research, National Development and Reform Commission, Mr. Yande Dai, the Director General of Energy Research Institute, National Development and Reform Commission, the Ambassador of Canada to China, His Excellency John McCallum, the Honourable Rachel Notley, Premier of Alberta, Mr. Qiang Yao, the Dean of Tsing Hua Graduate School, etc.
The Round Tablewere co-chaired by the Director General Yande Dai from ERI and Deron Bilous, Minister of Economic Development and Trade from the Government of Alberta. The Ambassador and Vice President Changlin Wang addressed keynote statements respectively. They agreed the friendship between China and Canada is deep and stable. Besides, these two countries have many common interests and cooperation opportunities on economy, trade, cultural communication, environmental protection and other aspects. They all looked forward for the higher lever cooperation between China and Canada.
Afterwards, officials from the Government of Alberta, Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, scholars from Tsinghua University, Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, University of Calgary, experts from ERI, the Climate Group, Future Energy Systems Research Institute, representatives from BYD Canada, Kerui Petroleum discussed issues on energy transformation, technology revolution, climate change, green finance, policy implementation, etc.
After the Round Table, under the witness of the Ambassador Canada to China, Director General Dai and the Premier of Alberta signed theMemorandum of Understanding between the Government of Alberta, Canada and the Energy Research Institute of the National Development and Reform Commission. Further cooperation was expected.
