On July 7, Deputy Director General GAO Shixian met Mr. Jeremy Bentham, Vice President Global Business Environment and Head of Shell Scenarios, Royal Dutch Shell. Director GAO Hu from Energy Economics and Development Strategy Center, Director SUN Leihong from Research Management and International Collaboration Division, Deputy Director BAI Quan from Energy Efficiency Center, etc. also attended the meeting.
Shell supports carbon emission reduction policy actively, and has developed energy transition strategy. On the meeting, Mr. Bentham introduced Shell’s scenario for pathways to net-zero emissions. On the premise of economy development and life quality improvement, Shell expects that global energy system will double by the end of this century. With technology improvement and supportive policy coordination, building, industry and transportation sectors world-wide will decarbonize, in different pace. Therefore, the net-zero emission scenarios will come true by the end of this century. Moreover, Mr. Gao introduced China’s latest policies as well as practices in energy transition, and expressed optimistic about potential achievement. Both sides expressed the willingness for further cooperation.
